Is it necessary to post asking price in a classified for a private sale? If so, why is this?

If you look at the Classifieds FAQ, you'll see that a price is required for all items and a serial # is required for select items (ie stereos). As I recall, the demand of a starting price posting is to stop super low balling and the resultant flame wars etc that you see on other sites that don't require price posting. WRT serial's, I believe that Dennis put it there to help prevent theft to order. Anyways, read the FAQ at the top of the Pawn Shop Forum. It's pretty easy to follow.
