Post Close call on the ORR
While driving west on the ORR, I was behind a red 2008 Subaru Impreza wagon which was behind a silver Hyundai Accent. All three of us were in the left hand lane and once we were clear of traffic and on a straight away, I indicated and moved to the right lane and proceeded to pass them as they were not moving over to the right.

While I was on the side of the Subaru I looked over and saw he was coming over on top of me. I nailed the horn twice but he didn't even look in my direction. I moved over to the shoulder as much as I could without getting to close to the guard rail. He still didn't notice me and was coming closer. There was about a foot or two between us before I hit the brakes, he continued coming over and I narrowly missed his rear bumper.

To say that I was relieved to not hit him or the guard rail goes without saying. I was still pretty shaken by the fact that he didn't once look or indicate the lane change. He just simply started gliding over without looking.

I kept some distance behind him but continued to watch him. He was tailgating any car in front of him, changing lanes without indicating and when he turned off into Paradise, he came close to cutting off another SUV. Every turn he made in Paradise was last minute and sharp, almost like he was realizing he was missing his turn offs. I followed the guy to his house and parked behind him.

He looked at me when he got out of his car trying to figure out who I was. I lowered my window and told him that he nearly ran me into a guard rail and didn't once use an indicator. I was pretty calmed down by this point but I had to tell this guy how fucking stupid he was.

He looked at me and goes "I didn't see you". Seriously??? Are you that goddamn blind and deaf that you couldn't see a car nor hear the horn while being only feet away? It's people like this that cause accidents. I think he should have to do his drivers test again, odds are he will fail with flying colors. I managed to nab 2 pics with my BB but I can't get the license plate clear enough.

The last time I actually talked to the person that nearly creamed me was about 8 years ago when some tool came off the highway into Paradise heading towards McD's. He came blazing down the off ramp, jumped across two lanes and only for I saw him and hit the brakes he would have driven me into on coming traffic or into a ditch.

Some days I just don't know how these people aren't dead or behind bars for killing someone.

Unfortuantly it's only a matter of time before they end up hurting someone. If were distracted by the littlest today, or just didn't see him coming, this asshat could have put you off the road.

It doesn't fail, every morning on the way to Ridge Road, I see at LEAST one terribly stupid act of driving, that makes me wonder how some people got their lisence in the first place.

thats crazy Gibson, some people are complete morons and should never be responsible for the operation of anything larger than a Vacuum never mind a vehicle.

I was coming down Whyat blvd yesturday morning, i was in the left hand lane approaching kenmount road, this idiot turns out into traffic, crossing the right hand lane and then come to a complete stop right in front of me, there was a new jetta city right next to me, i had to floor it and cut him off to avoid t-boning this fucktard (Sorry if that jetta owner is on here).

LOL at the vacuum line. It's pretty bad when you are trying being a sensible driver and some idiot somehow forces you to do something just as stupid to avoid a very bad collision.

It amazes me that there aren't more "accidents". I the term "accidents" because taking a second to use a little common sense and just not being and inconsiderate prick can be the difference between a very bad collision and nothing at all.

If people didn't bother trying to rush so much things would be so much better. I know at times you are late for something but you can still move through traffic a lot more safely than just passing everything in sight or making really stupid turns without indicating or cutting someone off.

There have been days that I am late for work but I don't fly out the highway pushing 140+. I keep between 100-120 max. I can usually cruise in traffic very easily and not be in anyone's way and I don't have to weave traffic either. I kept right except when passing, I don't get in someones way if they are driving faster than me. Simple things that make driving the ORR a fairly simple process and you get where you need to be without being an asshole about it.

How many people do you see passing one car to make it into an off ramp. Like passing that one car was really any faster, you might save yourself .00005 of a second. Or coming from the left hand lane, across the right lane into the off ramp without signaling or cutting off someone that took the time to exit properly.

I could go on for days about the idiotic driving around here and so could most of you. You all experience it on a daily basis like me. Not that we can do much about it but avoid sinking to their level.

Thats on my list of pet peeves, lol
Just the other day i was heading up kenmount in the left lane (heading from Pippy place to mt pearl) i was almost to the under pass of the gushue highway, there was no one behind me and i was doing 60, a Subaru wagon comes flying past me in the right lane, cuts me off and flys on over to the center turning lane and for what you ask? to turn in the fucking tim hortons, like they couldnt just pull in behind me and wait the full second longer to just turn off, no instead they need to blow past me doing 90+ then cut right out in front of me while braking hard just for a damn coffee. I just scratch my head wondering how they got this far in life, you would think they would have darted out in front of a bus as a kid trying to cross the road. Unfortunately no.

Myself and my girlfriend actually play a game while on the way home from work, we count how many stupid things we see other drivers so that could either result in a accident or a ticket. on average every 25-30 seconds we see something worth counting, lol

LOL me and my girlfriend do that sometimes too. I dunno if its just me but we have been seeing alot more acts of stupidty the last month or so.

This is a good one, someone this morning tried to pass me in a merge lane , i think it was the lane that people use coming off the gushue to head east. I was in the right lane, traffic was slow as shit, and this asshat behind me was getting impatient so he pulled over into the merge lane and attempted to pass me, of course he couldnt because traffic was tight as hell ahead of me as well, but jesus christ all i could do was laugh, what a douchebag.

Same thing happened to me on comonwelth the other night. I was coming up towards mcdonald's in the right lane when a jeep in the left lane stops to try to turn in towards the banks. Misses in a corolla behind him figured she wasn't going to wait for him to turn so she starts coming on over my way without looking. I nailed on the brakes and when she heard me she looked over and yanked back. Passed her again after and the man in the passenger seat was pissed off big time at her. Scary close, but extremely funny how she got a telling off

I'm glad no mentions of an Accord mentioned yet :o LOL

I came up the ramp off Gushu Highway and merged into the slow lane of the ORR and there was also a car infront of me doing the same. In the fast lane a Coors Light truck. So when we're all on the ORR, I'm looking to my left at his tire just thinking Big tire or whatever shit I thinks about and then I'm like .. whoa Greg, get back in your lane, you're on top of that truck. I'm like NO WAIT, he's got his signal light on and he's coming on top of me. The car in front was close but I still managed to drop a couple gears and gun 'er, mean while I was whaling on the horn like mad, hit the shoulder so I don't get ran the fuck over but I ended up getting a head before any death occurred.

Then I went on with my day :)

Should've pulled a Fast and Furious Speg and went under the truck. That would a pretty neat avoidance to pull off. You would need you hell of a lowered car for that one though. Close call, mine was close but it wasn't no 18 wheeler coming at me. If I had floored it to pass the guy I would have avoided him but I didn't need to. Good thing he made the change slowly. If he had whipped the car into the lane I would have bounced off the guard rail for sure.

I'm not starting shit here, but the right lane is not a passing lane. If people are in the passing lane and going too slow, flash your lights or blow the horn. I saw a sticker on the back of a trailer once that was something like this..................

I agree with you fixxer but if all the drivers had to honk and flash lights to get people to move over then our horns would probably die, the lights would burn out and we would still be no further ahead because most of the tards wouldn't have any idea why we are doing it. Can you imagine the ORR in the morning with everyone flashing their lights and honking their horns? God, if you didn't go into an epileptic fit from the flashing lights you will get a busting headache and probably snap like the dude in Falling Down :P

If people would just move over once they have cleared traffic there wouldn't be an issue at all. It's what I do. No point in lingering in the lane, you're not getting anywhere any faster by doing it. It's just a nuisance. But then again that could have happened if I was in the left hand lane, not looking when changing lanes is a very dangerous thing to do. You be somewhat aware of the cars around you.

Again, I totally agree with you. The right lane is not a passing lane. It's a shame that people can't do something so simple as look over their shoulder, indicate, then move over.

But what about when you are on the ORR and you get close to the off ramps and if you look at the big green signs, it indicates which lane to be in. So someone heading towards Torbay road may see the sign before PC road and get in the fast lane cause that's where the sign says they are heading going 100km/hr, but I'm going to PC road in the slow lane cause that's where the sign is telling me to go but I'm traveling at 110. I will end up passing on the inside.

I can't see why you cannot pass on the inside. I'm not too experienced, but what about driving on the big highways in big cities? I remember in TO, cars go everywhere. Doesn't the dotted white line mean pass either side vs the yellow solid line with the dotted on the right only indicating passing from the slow lane to the fast?

What's that old saying about there only being two types of drivers..."idiots and maniacs; idiots are those I have to pass and maniacs are those who pass me".. :D

For once i agree with Speg
I pass on the right side from time to time, if yours going slow in the Left lane, and the right lane is free or going faster then the right lane is where i'm going.

Sure the common rule is keep right except to pass, but the general drivers on the highways are morons, another common rule is dont block both lanes yet we all know that happens. The highway is divided to allow for 2 lanes of moving traffic. You will never see a cop ticket someone for passing in the right hand lane.

But Speg the yellow dotted line means that your on a 2 way road and to pass when safe to do so. the White dotted line indicates or on a 1 way road and can pass at anytime(when safe to do so)
