Post 2010 Clarenville Dragway Schedule
From Dave A., some nice changes to encourage more street cars to get involved too!

TRACK NEWS

2010 Schedule

June 13 – 14
June 26 – 27
July 10 – 11*
July 31 – August 1*
August 14 – 15 (NSMA Street car Shootout)
August 28 – 29
September 11 – 12
September 25 – 26
October 9 – 10 (Rain Make Up Date)

• * Note there is an extra week break between these 2 events.

OTHER NEWS:

1. We are looking into the possibility of having a rig on site for 2 specific events to handle transporting up to 3 street driven vehicles back to St. John’s on Sunday evening should they suffer damage that would make them undrivable back to town. This would be at no charge to the owner.

2. We would like to have a street car class that would run either a 3 or 4 event schedule depending on interest. Event would basically be part of every second meet. Series could be either bracket or heads up, we’ll need driver input on this aspect. Cash prize and plaques given to the winner & runner up of each event.

3. We are proposing that set times be used for street given cars to get runs in on Sundays. Until 12:30 line up for test & tune as in the past and then for a full hour on Sunday from 12:30 to 1:30 to run heads up with only street cars on the track, can get as many runs in as you can so hot laps will be fine. We’ll then run cars through again between each round of class racing which should allow 15-20 minutes of straight running every hour through the afternoon. As the afternoon moves on the length of time will increase.

4. Saturdays do not present an issue for getting runs in so we’ll leave that as in the past with test & tune and a gamblers race in the afternoon for those interested and continuing test & tune for those not entered or eliminated.

5. If someone doesn’t want their ET announced or made public in any way simply note with an X in the windshield and your time will not be announced and you’ll be run as a single run so only you have your time slip.

6. For Super Pro and Pro we will be adjusting the dial in spread so there is either a 1/2 second or 1 second overlap between the classes (we have yet to establish exactly so stay tuned). This will give drivers in the lower end of the time break in Super Pro the option on running in Pro for the season and the quicker cars in Pro with the option of running in Super Pro if they like. We’ll continue to run as a combo until we get the Pro class numbers back up to a minimum of 8 at which time we’ll run as a separate eliminator.

7. We would as one of our scheduled weekends like to host a show and shine on a Sunday. Would preferably like one or more of the clubs to step up and help organize. Would be a fee to enter (amount to be determined) with all proceeds going to a local charity in the Clarenville area. Charity would be agreed to between organizing club(s) and track management in advance. Top 3 vehicles by participant and fan vote would be awarded plaques at the end of the day. Show would take place in the area where planes are normally located. We would set aside a specific time for those participants who wanted to make a pass to be able to do so.

That’s it for now. Would really appreciate having some feedback on this. Due to Christmas being nearly upon us we will not be having a drivers meeting until early January at which time we hope to get a good discussion going about the upcoming season.

Have a GREAT Christmas season.

Here's the link to the rules, as they stood for 2009. There's usually a little tweaking goes on each year though, so keep on eye on the NSMA board for any changes to the 2010 event.
